Update CircCon research project

As part of the CircCon (Circular Construction) research project, we are using pilot projects to further develop EU taxonomy-compliant renovation of existing buildings. The aim is to evaluate and improve the applicability of taxonomy criteria for renovation projects.

On behalf of FFG - Austrian Research Promotion Agency Ltd., under the project coordination of OFI - Austrian Research Institute for Chemistry and Technology and in collaboration with AEE - Institute for Sustainable Technologies, the second year of research will be successfully completed at the end of October.

A model with data

While we developed our own standardised integrated planning process during the first year, we focused on the requirements of the EU taxonomy in relation to the circular economy in the second year. Among other things, an integrated and digital process was developed to integrate the sustainability indicators required for the EU taxonomy into BIM models. Based on these enriched BIM models, a building resource passport can then be created using Madaster. The developed process was documented in the form of a manual.

Now comes the third and final year with exciting reference projects. We look forward to making the renovation of existing buildings even more sustainable and future-proof and to providing further updates as the research project progresses.
