In the heart of Berlin lies a place with over 100 years of history: the Admiralspalast. Built in 1910 as one of the first large amusement palaces, the building transformed over the decades from an ice rink variety show to an operetta stage, from a “house of the press” to a political cabaret. After reopening in 2006, the Admiralspalast continues its history - and since 2019, we have been part of this new chapter as pde.
In collaboration with GRAFT Architects, we oversaw the planning and execution of the technical modernisation and expansion of the former side stage and the areas adjacent to the theatre into modern office space. We also implemented the fire protection refurbishment of the theatre in close collaboration with our fire protection team.
One of the major challenges: The parallel continuation of event operations. We also supervised the planning and implementation of the extension of the ensemble with a new building, which now houses the theatre's ancillary rooms (cloakroom, office, storage, etc.).
Our services:
The Admiralspalast project is a perfect example of integral planning in existing buildings. With know-how, precision and a deep understanding of the combination of new function and history steeped in tradition, we helped shape the upgrading of the cultural location - technically at the highest level.
