- In a timber-hybrid construction
Successful handover – the Vis-à-Vis is now occupied
Since last August, life has returned to the Vis-à-Vis in the Village im Dritten: around 300 residents have moved into their new homes, five shops are open and the nursery is also up and running. What was once a vision, followed by meticulous planning and implementation, is now everyday life in one of Austria’s largest and tallest timber buildings.
With eight above-ground storeys in a hybrid timber construction, the project in Vienna ranks among the country’s most significant urban timber construction projects – for the PORR Group, it was the first large-scale residential building of this scale constructed using timber.

Our experts in the Timber Construction Department played a key role in this project. Working alongside the client Schwarzatal, PORR and all the specialist designers, they ensured that the material properties of timber and reinforced concrete were perfectly harmonised.
The result: a high-quality, forward-looking residential project in which timber, as a sustainable building material, can fully demonstrate its strengths – from the load-bearing structure right down to the finest details.
