pde is a member of the Gütegemeinschaft Gebäudebilanzierung e. V. – the compliance of our own life cycle assessment tool with the QNG requirements has been successfully confirmed.
Sustainability begins with reliable data and transparent calculations. With the successful validation of our own life cycle assessment tool, we at pde are taking another important step towards quality assurance in digital sustainability planning.
As a member of the nationally recognised Gütegemeinschaft Gebäudebilanzierung e. V., our tool was tested against the relevant QNG calculation criteria as part of the prescribed validation process. The successful test confirms that the software meets the requirements for QNG-compliant life cycle assessment.
This means we have our own validated tool for carrying out life cycle assessments (LCA) for the German market, which takes into account the requirements of the Quality Seal for Sustainable Buildings (QNG).
Reliable assessment – from planning to verification
Life cycle assessment is an essential component of sustainable building design. It enables the environmental impacts of a building to be systematically recorded throughout its entire life cycle, allowing well-informed decisions to be made as early as the initial planning stages.
The successful QNG validation of our tool provides additional assurance: the underlying test cases and their implementation have been verified against the requirements defined by the Quality Association.
For our planning teams and our clients, this means:
- QNG-compliant calculation of the relevant life-cycle indicators
- transparent and reproducible calculation results
- a standardised and quality-assured basis for calculation
- support in the preparation of life-cycle assessments as part of sustainable building design
Taking digital sustainability planning a step further
The life cycle assessment tool was developed by pde for practical use in integrated planning and is continuously being refined.
A web-based version is currently being finalised, which will enable even simpler and more efficient use in future.
With this successful validation, we are underlining our commitment not only to supporting sustainability at a conceptual level, but also to integrating it into planning practice using quality-assured digital tools.
