Our new expertise in timber construction

Today is International Arbor Day. The perfect occasion to celebrate something very special: we are now officially welcoming our experts from the Timber Construction department to pde.

Previously part of the PORR Group, the timber construction department has been enriching our planning expertise with its passion for timber and sustainable construction since the beginning of the year. The best thing is that our new timber construction website is also going online on time today.

Discover the latest projects, news and ways in which timber construction projects can be realised together with us - in partnership, imaginatively and efficiently.

Wood as the ideal building material

Sustainable construction is increasingly taking centre stage in today's building projects. The choice of the right building materials plays a decisive role here, as they influence the entire life cycle of a building. This is where wood, as an indigenous, renewable and recyclable material, proves to be the ideal building material.

As a hybrid construction in particular, wood offers very good application possibilities, even with increased requirements in the areas of sound insulation and fire protection. It is therefore not surprising that public tenders and competitions are also increasingly looking for ecologically sustainable solutions. This is because public building owners are acting as role models, for example in school construction.

More and more timber construction projects
The choice of building material also influences the construction schedule. Timber components can be manufactured as large-format building elements separately from the construction site. These are then precisely assembled on site. This enables rapid construction progress.

This is another reason why we are increasingly using timber in our planning. Examples of this include the LeopoldsQuartier in Vienna and the new school building in Meerbusch, Germany. And there are more and more.
