Completion of the “Digital Building Twin” research project

The intensive research phase of the project “Digital Building Twin – BIM-based open platform for monitoring, evaluating, and optimizing building operations” will be completed at the end of the year. But that doesn't mean the project is over: now it's time to put the developed solution into productive use.

Since the project started in April 2021, it has been particularly important to us at Hashtag#pde that the digital twin does not remain just a theory. That's why our BIM experts have continuously contributed real projects, real requirements, and practical use cases to develop the platform in a practice-oriented way.

What has been achieved:
In collaboration with AEE - Institute for Sustainable Technologies and numerous industry experts, a BIM platform has been created that enables BIM data to be edited and expanded directly in the linked IFC models – and this data to be additionally connected to IoT sensors. The buildingtwin.net platform shows how energy consumption, comfort parameters, and operating conditions can be visualized and optimized in real time.

Our contribution:

  • Practical relevance instead of theory – real building data as a basis
  • Function tests in pilot projects – directly in real operation
  • Focus on user-friendliness – intuitive, applicable workflows

    The next step:
Together with the industry, we will continue to support the platform, use it in projects, and take digital building operation to the next level.
