A new era of rail travel has begun

With the opening of the Koralmbahn, one of Europe's largest infrastructure projects is going into operation. A project of this magnitude requires more than just engineering expertise—it requires integrated planning and partnership-based cooperation.

We at Hpde made a significant contribution to the successful implementation of the major Koralm Tunnel project. Together with the PORR Group and our consortium partner Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group, we managed the general planning using Building Information Modeling (BIM), LEAN methods, and regular virtual design reviews, bringing together seven trades and around 20 planning partners in an efficient, transparent, and coordinated manner.

The dimensions speak for themselves:

600 specialist models
2,500 model-based plans
Up to 60 participants simultaneously in the virtual project room

Our approach has not only made high complexity manageable, but has also set new standards for operation and maintenance – for a networked, digital, and future-oriented infrastructure project.
